Flow · Digestive enzymes
Five-Enzyme Blend
Five targeted enzymes chosen to help break down the protein, fats, carbohydrates, lactose and plant fibre in the mixed meals people actually eat.
What enzymes do
Digestive enzymes help break larger food molecules into smaller parts. Different enzymes work on different foods.
Why five
A mixed meal rarely asks the gut to handle just one thing. Five enzymes give Flow practical coverage across the protein, fats, carbohydrates, lactose and plant fibre people commonly eat together.
Why activity units matter
Weight tells you how much powder is present. Activity units tell you what each enzyme can do, so we disclose every one.
Amylase8,000 DU · carbohydrates
Protease35,000 HUT · protein
Lipase750 FIP · fats
Cellulase500 CU · plant fibre
Lactase1,500 ALU · dairy and lactose
Formula role: Five declared enzymes for five major parts of a mixed meal.
Nourish · Prebiotic fibre
Acacia Gum · FiberGum B
3,000 mg per daily serve
A soluble plant fibre that nourishes beneficial gut bacteria and helps make fibre support a meaningful daily habit.
What it is
Acacia gum is a soluble fibre from the acacia tree. FiberGum B is the branded form selected for The Daily Buffer™.
Why it earned its place
Adding probiotics is only half the story. FiberGum B provides fermentable fibre the microbiome can use, while building half of the substantial 6 g Nourish layer.
Its place in the formula
Three grams of acacia meets three grams of PHGG to create a substantial dual-fibre layer.
Formula role: 3 g of branded acacia fibre—half of the 6 g Nourish layer.
Nourish · Prebiotic fibre
PHGG · Fibalance
3,000 mg per daily serve
A soluble, non-gelling prebiotic fibre chosen for regularity, digestive comfort and a drink people will actually want to take every day.
What it is
PHGG stands for partially hydrolysed guar gum. It dissolves without turning your daily drink into a thick gel.
Why it earned its place
PHGG brings both function and usability: human studies have explored stool form, bloating and microbiome outcomes, while its low viscosity keeps the daily serve easy to drink.
Its place in the formula
Three grams of PHGG meets three grams of acacia fibre, combining two complementary fibre sources.
Formula role: 3 g of branded PHGG—completing the 6 g Nourish layer.
Flora · Named probiotic strain
S. boulardii CNCM I-745
3 billion CFU per daily serve
A named probiotic yeast selected to support microbiome resilience when everyday life puts digestion under pressure.
What it is
S. boulardii is a probiotic yeast. CNCM I-745 identifies the exact strain, not only the species.
Why it earned its place
Exact-strain outcome: In a human study during antibiotic use, CNCM I-745 helped limit some disruption to the gut microbiome and reduced diarrhoea scores. Put simply, this strain was chosen for support when the gut is under pressure.
Why the full name matters
Probiotic findings belong to the strain tested. Naming CNCM I-745 makes the choice traceable.
Formula role: 3 billion CFU from a named strain within a 10-billion-CFU blend.
Flora · Named probiotic strain
B. coagulans BC30
5 billion CFU per daily serve
A resilient named probiotic chosen with everyday regularity and digestive comfort in mind.
What it is
BC30 is a spore-forming probiotic. Its natural protective structure is well suited to a stable daily powder.
Why it earned its place
Exact-strain outcome: In a four-week placebo-controlled study, 1 billion CFU of BC30 daily helped adults go more regularly, improved stool consistency and reduced reports of constipation. The Daily Buffer™ provides 5 billion CFU per daily serve.
Its place in the formula
At 5 billion CFU, BC30 forms the largest share of the three-strain Flora blend.
Formula role: 5 billion CFU from a stable, named strain with human gut research.
Flora · Named probiotic strain
B. subtilis DE111
2 billion CFU per daily serve
A resilient probiotic strain selected to support everyday digestive balance.
What it is
DE111 is a named, spore-forming probiotic strain. Its naturally protective structure helps it remain stable in a daily powder and survive the journey through the digestive system.
Why it earned its place
Exact-strain outcome: In a 90-day placebo-controlled study, 1 billion CFU of DE111 daily helped move stool form toward a more normal range in adults with occasional irregularity. The Daily Buffer™ provides 2 billion CFU per daily serve.
Its place in the formula
DE111 works alongside S. boulardii CNCM I-745 and B. coagulans BC30, creating a complementary three-strain blend supported by prebiotic fibre.
Formula role: 2 billion CFU from a named probiotic strain, contributing to the complete 10 billion CFU Flora blend.
Fortify · Gut lining
L-Glutamine
1,900 mg per daily serve
A foundational amino acid chosen to support the intestinal lining—the hardworking barrier between what you eat and the rest of your body.
What it is
L-glutamine is an amino acid the body naturally makes and uses throughout the intestinal lining.
Why it earned its place
Gut health is more than the microbiome. L-glutamine gives The Daily Buffer™ a dedicated ingredient for the physical lining, so Fortify supports the barrier as well as the bacteria around it.
Its place in the formula
It anchors Fortify beside N-acetyl glucosamine and zinc—three complementary ingredients built around one clear role.
Why 1.9 g of L-glutamine?
The linked study used 15 g a day in adults with post-infectious IBS. It doesn’t establish the same benefits at our 1.9 g amount or test our finished formula.
Formula role: A fully disclosed 1,900 mg foundation for the Fortify layer.
Fortify · Gut lining
N-Acetyl Glucosamine
300 mg per daily serve
A considered building block selected with the gut’s protective mucus layer in mind.
What it is
N-acetyl glucosamine is an amino sugar related to compounds naturally present in mucus and connective tissue.
Why it earned its place
The mucus layer helps form the gut’s first protective surface. NAG gives Fortify a distinct structural role that probiotics and fibre do not provide.
Its place in the formula
Paired with L-glutamine and zinc, it helps make Fortify a layered blend rather than a single-ingredient gesture.
Formula role: 300 mg, fully disclosed, corn-derived and selected for our vegan formula.
Fortify · Gut lining
Zinc Gluconate
15 mg per daily serve
An essential mineral chosen to support normal cell renewal and the tissues that maintain protective barriers.
What it is
Zinc is an essential mineral the body needs but cannot make. Zinc gluconate is the considered form used here.
Why it earned its place
Your gut lining renews constantly. Zinc earns its place because normal zinc nutrition supports the cell and tissue processes behind that everyday maintenance.
Its place in the formula
It completes the Fortify trio with L-glutamine and N-acetyl glucosamine, so no single ingredient is asked to do everything.
Formula role: 15 mg, fully disclosed, completing the three-part Fortify layer.
Shield · Targeted plant compound
Black Seed Oil Powder
500 mg per daily serve
A concentrated botanical chosen to add a distinct plant compound to the Shield layer.
What it is
Black seed comes from Nigella sativa. Its oil contains thymoquinone, a naturally occurring plant compound studied in human research.
Why it earned its place
Black seed has a long history of food use and a growing body of human research. It gives Shield a clear botanical role alongside quercetin.
Its place in the formula
Black seed brings an oil-based botanical. Quercetin adds a complementary flavonoid found naturally in food.
Formula role: 500 mg of black seed oil powder, paired deliberately within Shield.
Shield · Targeted plant compound
Quercetin Dihydrate
150 mg per daily serve
A food-derived flavonoid selected to complement black seed, while naturally giving The Daily Buffer™ its bright yellow colour.
What it is
Quercetin is found naturally in foods including apples, onions and berries. Dihydrate is the stable form used here.
Why it earned its place
Quercetin earns its place through formula breadth: it brings a distinct flavonoid found in familiar plant foods, so Shield is a complementary pair rather than a single botanical.
Its place in the formula
Paired with black seed, it creates a measured two-part botanical layer with two distinct plant-compound profiles.
Formula role: 150 mg, fully disclosed, adding a purposeful food-derived flavonoid to Shield.

Black seed oil · human and early laboratory research
Black seed oil and digestive research.
A double-blind, placebo-controlled study followed 70 adults with functional dyspepsia for eight weeks. Those taking 5 mL of black seed oil daily with honey had improved digestive symptom scores compared with those receiving honey alone.
Product context: Both groups received honey, so the main difference was the black seed oil. The study used a higher amount in people with a diagnosed digestive condition. The Daily Buffer™ contains 500 mg of black seed oil powder and was not tested in this study.
Early microbiome research: In a 2025 laboratory study, black cumin seed extract increased the production of acetate, propionate and butyrate by microbes collected from human stool samples. This work was performed outside the human body and tested a different extract, so it does not show that The Daily Buffer™ changes the human gut microbiome.
Research shown relates to individual ingredients, named strains or clearly labelled related formulations in the people and amounts studied. These papers do not test The Daily Buffer™ as a finished product. This library is general education, not medical advice.
