Stool form and the gut microbiome.

In a three-month placebo-controlled study, 5 g of PHGG daily helped move stool form toward normal and increased Bifidobacterium in 44 adults prone to loose stools.

BC30 and regularity.

In 111 adults with everyday gut complaints, 1 billion CFU of BC30 daily for four weeks improved stool frequency, stool consistency and constipation measures versus placebo. The Daily Buffer provides 5 billion CFU of the same named strain.

Bloating and gas in people with IBS.

Across 12 weeks, 6 g of PHGG a day improved bloating and gas compared with placebo in adults with IBS.

Acacia fibre · related ingredient research

Acacia fibre and stool frequency.

In a four week placebo controlled study, adults with constipation predominant IBS took 10 g of acacia fibre a day. The study reported an increase in stool frequency.

L-glutamine · different amount and study group

L-glutamine in a specific study group.

This eight week study tested 15 g of L-glutamine a day in adults with post infectious IBS-D and increased gut permeability. It reported changes in symptoms, stool measures and permeability compared with placebo.

Zinc gluconate · different amount

Zinc and gut barrier markers.

This small study used separate groups to examine intestinal tissue and blood markers. Participants received zinc gluconate providing 52 mg of zinc a day for tissue tests. A separate group received 60 mg a day for a blood marker.

Product context: The Daily Buffer™ lists 15 mg of zinc gluconate per daily serve. This study used higher amounts for short term marker tests and did not test our listed amount or finished product.

CNCM I-745 · situational outcome

S. boulardii during antibiotic use.

In adults taking an antibiotic, S. boulardii CNCM I-745 reduced some antibiotic-linked microbiome changes and diarrhoea scores. It is the exact named strain used in The Daily Buffer, at 3 billion CFU per serve.

A five-enzyme complex and dyspepsia.

In a 60-day placebo-controlled study, a related five-enzyme complex improved functional dyspepsia symptom scores. It used the same five enzyme types found in Flow; The Daily Buffer separately discloses the activity of every enzyme.

Black seed oil · human and early laboratory research

Black seed oil and digestive research.

A double-blind, placebo-controlled study followed 70 adults with functional dyspepsia for eight weeks. Those taking 5 mL of black seed oil daily with honey had improved digestive symptom scores compared with those receiving honey alone.

Product context: Both groups received honey, so the main difference was the black seed oil. The study used a higher amount in people with a diagnosed digestive condition. The Daily Buffer™ contains 500 mg of black seed oil powder and was not tested in this study.

Early microbiome research: In a 2025 laboratory study, black cumin seed extract increased the production of acetate, propionate and butyrate by microbes collected from human stool samples. This work was performed outside the human body and tested a different extract, so it does not show that The Daily Buffer™ changes the human gut microbiome.
